About the Cover

Cover Figure

About the Cover Traditionally, the deployment of the percutaneous aortic valve (PAV) has been guided by fluoroscopy and, more recently by 2D TEE. Real-time, 3D TEE may offer superior visualization of the anatomic relationships between the deployment catheter assembly and the aortic root. The cover of this issue of JACC: Cardiovascular Imaging shows one of the first-ever uses of real-time 3D TEE during deployment of PAV. The images demonstrate valvular anatomy before deployment (top row), the exact positioning of the PAV during deployment (middle row), and anatomy after PAV implantation (bottom row). Fluoroscopic images are provided for comparison. The related manuscript can be seen in this issue on pages 15 to 24, and some additional images on http://jaccimage.cardiosource.com/vol1/issue1/covimg_VID1-vol1iss1.avi and http://jaccimage.cardiosource.com/vol1/issue1/covimg_VID2-vol1iss1.avi.
