A Systematic Approach to Follow-Up of Transcatheter Aortic Valves
Transcatheter aortic valves (TAV) have unique properties and complications. A systematic approach to imaging at follow-up includes visual inspection, hemodynamic assessment of the TAV, assessment of adjacent cardiac structures, and of ventricular function. This approach will allow accurate diagnosis of common TAV-related complications. EOA = effective orifice area; EOAi = indexed effective orifice area; ERO = effective regurgitant orifice; LV = left ventricle; PHT = pressure half time; PPM = patient-prosthesis mismatch; RV = right ventricle; SV = stroke volume; TAVR = transcatheter aortic valve replacement.
